The Hunter

Happy May!

A little change of pace on this next tale. Gabe Stein himself will be taking over the writing and drawing chores for the next few weeks, while I lie around and slack off.

Check in every Sunday for a new installment of Gabe's magnum opus:

The Hunter!

So I saw the Wolverine movie. Didn't like it much, I'm sad to say. It was OK I guess. I had no problem with Deadpool which seems to be a big sticking point with fans. I was more unhappy with the fact that Wolverine volunteers for the Weapon X process. Kind of makes Wolverine seem like more of a chump and less of a tragic hero when the whole horrific adamantium killing machine process isn't forced on him. Everything after that point in the movie kind of flies in the face of logic and really challenges one's suspension of disbelief. Really didn't like what they did with Silver Fox either. Hugh Jackman does a fine job, but I find myself scratching my head about how much he talked up the fact that they were making Wolverine a real badass in this film. He seems less of a badass here than in any of the previous X-Men movies. The Weapon X sequence in X2 was far more powerful and unnerving than the more fleshed out version here. Liev Schrieber makes a good Sabretooth, but his motivations are all over the place. Oh well. It wasn't absolutely awful. I really hope we get to see a Wolverine in Japan film that closely hews to the Claremont/Miller miniseries. Readers of The Scam might have noticed that I'm kind of a fan of that mini. :)

Have a good month of May!
