Out of Africa

So I'm back.

Been back for awhile in fact. Just busy. As per usual. Life is good. Getting more and more illustration work. I'm a happy camper.

Africa was fabbo. Kicked it in Tanzania. Hung with the monkeys. Ate falafel in Zanzibar. Said "Jambo" to a lot of people.

Here's some pretty pictures:

What else is going on?

Well, over on the MonkeybunnyĆ¼berblog we've started running a little Hammer prequel with Buck Fiddy laying out some Hamtown history.

Whoops. Sorry Frank Miller.

Anyways, A Tale of Two Fiddys will run every Wednesday for a few weeks. Give it a look if you're a Hammer fan.

Kung Fu Monkeyface is still chugging along. Having a lot of fun with this one. Every Sunday for the monkey.

Otherwise, got a few projects in the works here in there, but nothing to talk too much about yet.

Read a good book whilst I was holidaymaking. The Garden of Last Days by Andre Dubus III. It's about strippers and 9-11 and it's pretty awesome.

I also read The Hunger Games trilogy by mistake.

Stephen King said this was great and I always listen to Stephen King so I picked up all three books and brought them with me to read on the beach. Turns out these books are for 14 year old girls. They're probably pretty cool if you are in fact a 14 year old girl. Otherwise, not so much. Just a YA mishmash of the far superior Battle Royale and King's own The Long Walk.

Working on The Passage right now and so far it's really, really good. More on that when I finish it.

On the movie front... I'm trying to think if I've seen anything really awesome since The Kids Are All Right (still the best movie of the year, if you ask me).

Black Swan is definitely worth seeing, but not quite the masterpiece it's cracked up to me.

Natalie Portman is great, but I'm rooting for Annette Bening at the Oscars. Sure can't wait for The Wolverine though.

Oh, The Town is just as good as everybody says.

Ben Affleck is right in his Boston wheelhouse with this one. Very cool noir stuff for the crime aficionados out there.

I've seen a whole lot of stuff but not much else is popping into mind. Except for Due Date which is just godawful.

A huge waste of Robert Downey junior who does his best, but gets nothing from the script. I don't really have anything against Zach Galfaniakis, but his character is so ungodly annoying in this movie that you just want Robert Downey Junior to knock out all his teeth with a hammer or shoot him in the kneecaps or something. He's supposed to be funny buthe's just incredibly irritating. I stopped watching in the middle of a giant car chase across the Mexican border. Just painful.

Okay, that's it for now. I'm out.
